Heard about these on Tom Gresham’s Gun Talk. Now these beat the hell out of the primitive block of wood and nail contraptions I used years ago. Gresham’s right, these are a really cool gift anytime.
The manufacturer was talking about how the state of Kaleefornya won’t let him sell at hobby shows because after all these are “guns.” And naturally he gets some interesting reactions from the politically correct types elsewhere and is sometimes even asked to pack up and leave shows much to the consternation of the customers. But he still manages to sell “thousands” of these beauties to real Americans.
Lets see, should I order one of those 50 Caliber pistols or go for the AK-47 or M-16? Ammo (rubber bands) for the 50 are about half the cost of bands, I mean ammo, for the rifles. However this ammo can be fired over and over and over. I’ll need some quality spinning targets and I already have safety glasses, although I don’t recall the Duke ever wearing safety glasses.

Yes – DIVORCE talk. At first, I thought only in LA would you find this sort of program, and of course, on a “progressive” station. But after listening, this is a really good show. The hosts, Lawrence A. Sobel and Andrea Cohen take a difficult and enormously stressful topic and combine expert advice with a huge dose of humor.
You wouldn’t expect a divorce discussion to return from a break with Led Zeppelin’s “Babe, I’m Going To Leave You”, but hey, why not? And here in Jersey, we don’t get to hear a lot of commercials with stress-relieving yoga breathing exercises. In Jersey, stress is best handled at the firing range. I just don’t know where to place it in my upcoming new category system. Does it go under entertainment, health and fitness, sports or home improvement?
The show’s website is divorcetalkradio.net. You can listen again next Saturday night at 9pm est. on KTLK. I have to agree with Mr. Sobel. What better way to spend Christmas Eve than gathering the family around the computer speakers and having a listen. And remember your breathing exercises . . or range targets, whichever.
How many hours must I have spent listening to Bob over the past 35 years? I was in high school when Bob arrived on the New York radio scene. There wasn’t anyone else quite like him. There still isn’t.
This January 13th, Friday the 13th, is an unlucky day for the multi-generational fans of the Bob Grant Show. Bob will return from vacation on Jan. 5 and do 7 final days of programs for WOR. The sudden but “mutually agreed” leave will end nearly 10 years at WOR. Bob, more than a bit past the age most men seek out retirement, might do just that. Or as Bob stated in the New York Post, “Maybe somebody will make me an offer I can’t refuse.”
Michael Savage, whose show follows Grant on WOR, lamented, “Where am I going to get a lead-in like Bob Grant?” Well he certainly isn’t going to get it from restaurant and food show host DiSpirito who the station claims is going to take the drive-time slot. We’ll find out before long what’s really in store for WOR listeners. Savage invited Grant to call in for some reminiscing about the early days.
But maybe Grant is too busy for reminiscing. Maybe he’s planning to add his voice to the satellite mix. As the Post stated, both XM and Sirius “expressed immediate interest”, upon learning the news.
Whatever the path, good luck Bob. And thanks. It was a terrific 35 years. Straight ahead.
